A book that is certain to spark controversy within the financial media and throughout the halls of government, The Coming Bond Market Collapse sounds a clarion call to investors, business leaders, and policymakers. Author Michael Pento, a noted adherent of the Austrian school of economics theories, compellingly argues that the United States is fast approaching the end stage of the biggest asset bubble in history. He describes how the bursting of that bubble will trigger a massive interest rate shock that will send the U.S. consumer-driven economy and the U.S. government - now pumped up by massive Treasury debt - into bankruptcy, an event that, in turn, will send violent shockwaves throughout the global economy.
Backed by a wealth of historical and economic data, Mr. Pento examines how the policies followed by both the Federal Reserve and private industry have led, inexorably, to the impending disaster, and he exposes alarming parallels between the U.S. and European debt crises.
But this book isn't all doom and gloom. A top market analyst who accurately foretold the bursting of the housing bubble in most major print and TV media, Michael Pento also provides well-reasoned solutions that government, industry, and individual investors can take to insulate themselves against the coming crisis.
Just as importantly, Mr. Pento delivers proven strategies and tools investors can use to successfully navigate the rocky times ahead and to not only survive the crisis, but capitalize on it.

If you are interested in a a summary of the horrendous financial situation we are in and one mans opinion of what we need to do as a country, then buy this book. If you are looking for an in-depth examination of where to place your money to preserve it during a coming economic collapse, you should pass. I was expecting the latter and was disappointed. This is really the author explaining where he thinks the nations financial problems are and his prescription. Only the last paragraph discusses what you should do with your money, and it's a pretty superficial review at that. You are certainly not going to walk away with a firm grasp of what to do avoid a coming bond market collapse, as the title implies. Also, while I agree with much of the authors opinions regarding where the nation stands financially, he repeats his basic opinions over and over again in each chapter which gets tiring and makes the read much longer than it need be.
...That this country has become. And provides insight into the most probable future direction as the economy continues to unravel after a century of control by the Federal Reserve. In terms the non-economist with some reasonable concept of the financial machinations can understand, Pento explains clearly how the current crisis developed from the bubble economy, what that has meant in the global financial world, the reckless borrowing and printing of money by the Fed, the astounding US debt, and what steps investors (at least those with something left after the stock and housing head fakes), might choose to take.A few lines from the mid-point of the book summarize the downward spiral: "Manias can last a very long time and become more extended than reason should allow. But eventually investors will have an epiphany and demand higher rates. Once the bond bubble explodes here as it did in southern Europe, it will destroy the dollar along with it. That's because foreign sellers of US debt will be forced to abandon dollar based holdings completely. that will mark the end of the US dollar as the world's reserve currency and the restoration of gold as the global store of wealth."Definitely worthwhile for those trying to figure out what happened & where the economy will most likely go from here.
Michael Pento takes the complexity of bond market and turns it into gripping story that rivals a thriller for excitement! This book will first and foremost inform you while simultaneously entertaining you.Hopefully it will also motivate you take action in preserving some of your wealth.
Michael makes a strong case for the "Ending of America" as we know it today, and places the blame squarely on the shoulders of our federal, state and local politicians who have engaged in decades of reckless spending. All I can say about this book, is that if Michael is right you will wish you had read "The Coming Bond Market Collapse"............
Very credible source... Excellent advice... Wish I would have read it sooner... But still not to late! A friend advised we read this and I ordered this book. We need to take our financial situation seriously... Great advice but I admit I needed to ask my financial advisor to help me fully understand some areas to make my final decisions. I highly recommend reading this book to be prepared the best we can!
Michael Pento has a gift for being able to see through all the clutter and presenting the subject in a well thought out and detailed manner. A great read!
I'm a trader and an economist ... first : I believe that the book is a bit too easy, really boring to read if you are into economics.Second : He, as most Austrian economist, is in the inflation camp ... which in my personal opinion could be misleading , I 'm in the deflation camp , thats why I can't take this book for real . If you really want to get ahead of whats coming I recommend : The Age of Deleveragin from Shilling and The Age of OverSupply from daniel Alpert , These guys aren't theorical Austrians as Michael pento is, they are real live traders with very good performance records.I believe That this book is wrong , and misleading... If a global crisis comes right now , probably bonds could fall in the short run , but in the long run the dollar for sure is the place to be.
It was about what I expected. I am in complete agreement with the author about the Federal Reserve and the bond market collapse. It is a shame that we have ideologs instead of clear thinking scholars running our economy and our lives. The book explains a lot that most people just do not understand.
